05.07.08 MVA Pulaski Pike and Ready Section

Toney VFD responded to an MVA with injuries at the intersection of Ready Section and Pulaski Pike. One patient was transported to the Hospital.

04.23.08 Abandoned Structure Fire on Conley Drive

Toney VFD assisted Meridianville and Hazel Green on a working structure fire.  The house was not occupied.  E-314 laid 900' of 5" hose, connecting to Hazel Green's additional 500'.  Due to the combined efforts of all three departments. the fire was brought under control.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

   

04.22.08 Structure Fire on Carter Grove Road
Toney and Bobo fire departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Carters Grove Rd.  Firefighters found a mobile home fully involved.  However, the fire was quickly brought under control, but the home was a total loss.  In addition, Bobo EMT's responded to a burn patient just minutes prior to the structure fire.  The two incidents reportedly were connected.   The cause of the fire and the connection to the burn patient remain under investigation. 04.20.08 Two vehicles collide at Hwy 53 & Old Railroad Bed

TVFD was dispatched Sunday morning for a wreck with injuries.  One vehicle was t-boned on the passengers side coming to a stop several yards off of the roadway.  One patient was injured and taken to the hospital by HEMSI.

04.15.08 Single Car Accident on McKee Road

Toney Fire and Rescue responded to a MVA, the car being reported in the woods.  First unit on scene found two occupants still in the vehicle.  Both were transported to the hospital by HEMSI.  The car left the road snapping the support wire on a utility pole and then grazing a large tree.  The car came to rest against a fence.

04.12.08 Live Fire Training on Will Raby Road

Toney Volunteer Fire Department hosted a multi-company training at a house on Will Raby Rd. Harvest, Monrovia and Bobo Fire Departments attended. Thank you to Mrs. Hill and family for the donation of this house which gave these departments an excellent training opportunity. Click here to see all the pictures from that day.

04.11.08 Live Fire Training on Caroline Road

Toney Fire Department conducted a live fire training exercise Friday night.  Due to the condition of the structure, interior training was not feasible.  Nevertheless, there were many opportunities for instruction and training during the burn.  Thanks to those who participated. 

04.09.08 Kitchen Fire on Kittyhawk

TVFD responded as second due with Harvest VFD to a reported kitchen fire.  The fire was reported out upon arrival.  Firefighters ventilated the structure with a PPV and also had the opportunity to give a tour of the firetruck.

04.05.08 Chimney Fire on Grimwood Road

Toney Fire responded to a reported chimney fire.  First units confirmed the dispatch.  A PPV was used at the front door in conjunction with a dry chemical extinguisher on the interior of the fire place.  The fire was brought under control, but due to the heavy concentration of creosote inside the chimney, a hose line had to be used from the roof to fully extinguish the fire.  Meridianville Fire also responded.

 

04.05.08 Multi Company Training on Will Raby Road

Toney Volunteer Fire Department hosted a multi-company training at a house on Will Raby Rd.  Harvest, Monrovia and Bobo Fire Departments attended, along with  Madison Fire who provided a crew to assist with instructing.  Firefighters circulated through 8 different stations which provided hands on training.  Thanks to all of these dedicated volunteers who gave up a Saturday to attend this training. 

RIGHT HAND/ LEFT HAND SEARCH - Instructed by Nick Williamson (Harvest), Darrell Bell (Toney), and Stacy Harraway (Madison) -  (assisted by Brennan Bell and Minnie Mouse).  Firefighters searched for Minnie Mouse while having their hoods pulled over their eyes to simulate zero visibility.  Minnie was rescued by each crew.

 

METER PULLING - Instructed by John Penny (Toney) and Jay (Madison).  Firefighters were instructed on proper electrical meter pulling technique and each person physically removing the meter.

     

BREACHING SHEETROCK - Instructed by Tim Lyon (Toney).  Firefighters were instructed and performed easier and energy saving techniques when removing sheetrock walls and ceilings.

 

HOSE ADVANCEMENT - Instructed by Tim Westwick and Andrew Wright (both of Harvest).  Firefighters practiced proper hose streams, advancing hose lines through the inside of a structure, hose placement and nozzle selection.

GROUND LEVEL VENTILATION - Instructed by Matt Comstock (Toney) and Pete Mehok (Madison).  Firefighters were put into a real smoke environment where a hose line was used for ventilation as well as a PPV.

 

HYDRANT CONNECTION - Instructed by Jerry Gerhold and David Northcutt (both of Toney).  Firefighters got hands on training connecting hose lines to a fire hydrant as well as other aspects of hydrant connection.

PPE / SCBA - Instructed by Stephanie Bell (Toney) and David Beach (Monrovia).  Firefighters performed correctly putting on their turnouts and air packs while being timed.

CHIMNEY FIRES - Instructed by Tray Hunt (Toney).  Firefighters learned techniques to fight chimney fires.

 

04.04.08 Downed power lines on Bo Howard Road

TVFD responded to reported wires down arching on a shed.  E314 arrived first on scene and reported wires sagging across the road, but nothing involving any structures.  Firefighters kept the road blocked until Huntsville Utilities arrived to make repairs.

Pet Oxygen Mask's

TVFD is now equipped with pet oxygen masks and carry them on each engine. Thanks to Marti and Vern Dill for donating these masks. This contribution may one day save the life of a dear pet.
