04.30.09 Wreck at McKee Road and Old RR Bed

Toney Fire responded to a two vehicle wreck with injuries backing up Harvest Fire.  One patient was transported by HEMSI.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.

 

04.25.09 MVA with Confirmed Entrapment on Grimwood
TVFD was dispatched to single vehicle MVA with partial ejection and confirmed entrapment.  Toney firefighters and EMS personnel were able to free the patient, but sadly the injuries sustained were fatal. 

 

04.18.09 Wreck with Injuries on Morris Road
Toney Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to a single vehicle wreck with injury.  Upon arrival units reported one patient injured.  HEMSI transported the patient to the hospital.

04.06.09 Structure Fire on Deer Creek

Toney Fire was dispatched first due for a reported vehicle fire, then updated to a structure fire with possible entrapment.  Harvest and Monrovia Fire Dept.s were also dispatched.  Command 514 arrived first on scene and Chief Lyon reported the structure fully involved and negative entrapment.  Crews worked until daybreak extinguishing the fire and thankfully there were no injuries.  Thanks to Harvest Fire, Monrovia Fire and HEMSI for their assistance. 

 

04.01.09 Vehicle Fires Threaten a Structure
TVFD responded to a reported vehicle fire threatening a structure.  Hazel Green Fire was dispatched second due.  Upon arrival units found multiple vehicles involved.  The fires were quickly put out and only minimal damage was sustained to the structure.  This was one of three arson fires on this particular night.  Thanks to the Madison County Fire Marshall's office and Madison County Sheriff's Dept., the arsonist was arrested days later, but after several more arsons were committed.

 

03.28.09 MVA W/Injuries Old Railroad Bed & Toney Rd.
Toney Fire was dispatched to a wreck with possible injuries at Toney Rd and Old Railroad bed in the early afternoon. First arriving units advised one patient with confirmed entrapment. After a simple door pop the patient was transported by HEMSI with minor injuries.

03.19.09 Shed Fire on Robins Road

Toney Fire was dispatched second due for Harvest Fire to a reported shed fire.  As units went in route, Madison County Fire Dispatch was receiving multiple calls with reports of explosions.  Upon arrival units reported a large storage building fully involved.  While on scene several small explosions took place and firefighters stayed at a safe distance until the fire was brought under control.  The building was a total loss, however thanks to the hard work of Toney and Harvest firefighters a Harley Davidson motorcycle and two large portable storage units were saved.  Thankfully there were no injuries.  The cause of the fire is under investigation 

03.07.09 Single Vehicle MVA on Wall Triana

Toney fire was dispatched to a single vehicle wreck with possible injuries.  Upon arrival, the driver refused treatment by EMS personnel, however the patient was later transported to the hospital.

02.25.09 Vehicle vs Utility Pole on Beaver Dam Road

A Toney VFD Firefighter/EMT happened upon the scene of a single vehicle wreck just after it occurred.  A utility pole had been broken and wires were across the roadway, cutting power in the area.  At some point the car became energized due to the support wire and primary line contacting each other while simultaneously contacting the vehicle.  The patient was transported to the hospital by HEMSI and Toney units stood by until the road was cleared 

02.02.09  Car vs Tree on Pulaski Pike

TVFD responded to a single vehicle wreck with possible injuries on Pulaski Pike at Grimwood Road.  The driver of the vehicle was uninjured when his car left the roadway striking a tree.  The cause of the accident was still under investigation. 

01.18.09 Single Car MVA Toney Rd and Old RXR Bed

Toney Fire was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment on Toney Road and Old Railroad Bed Road. First unit on the scene advised negative entrapment negative injury.

01.15.09 Wreck with Injuries on Wall Triana

TVFD responded to a wreck with possible injuries.  Upon arrival EMS personnel determined that only one patient was injured.  That patient was transported by HEMSI while Toney units stayed on scene for clean up and traffic control.

 

01.07.09 Head on MVA Waltriana and Hwy 53

Toney Fire was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment around 7:00am. First unit on the scene advised confirmed entrapment. Quick work by FD personnel were able to extricate the patient and transport 2 with minor injuries by HEMSI. Cause of the accident is still under investigation.

12.03.08 Head on MVA on Pulaski Pike

Toney Fire was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment around noon.  First unit on scene reported one person confirmed entrapped with a total of two patients.  The vehicles appeared to have collided head on.  The entrapped patient was extricated while the driver of the other vehicle was packaged.  Both patients were transported to the hospital by HEMSI.

11.24.08 Two Vehicles Collide on Hwy 53

TVFD responded to a two vehicle MVA with possible entrapment.  M214 was first on scene and reported negative entrapment.  One patient was packaged and taken to the hospital by HEMSI. 

11.22.08 Live Training Burn with Harvest VFD

Toney Volunteer Fire Dept. held a live burn training exercise with Harvest VFD also participating.  Evolutions included fire control, fire behavior, thermal imager training and roof ventilation.  Roof cutting was performed using our new Vent Master Saw.  The saws were purchased by a grant awarded by CAS Inc.  This was our first chance to work with the new saws and everyone was impressed by the quick cuts that were made.  Thanks to all who attended and a big thanks to one of our citizens who provided pizza for lunch.  We also greatly appreciate the donation of this house for this valuable training. 

11.05.08 Structure Fire on Hunters Hill Trace

At approximately 9:40am, Toney VFD was dispatched to a reported structure fire with possible entrapment with Harvest VFD second due.  Monrovia VFD was dispatched to assist with a rapid intervention team due to the possibility of entrapment.  Several units reported heavy smoke showing from a few miles out.  M314 arrived first and reported the structure fully involved.  Bobo VFD and Hazel Green VFD responded for additional personnel.   E314 was the first engine in and E114 arrived seconds later, laying a 5" supply.  Firefighters immediately began protecting the neighboring house which already had the vinyl siding melting off.  Due to the amount of fire, no entry could be made for a search.  The fire was brought under control in about an hour and the adjacent house suffered no further damage.  In addition, no one was at home at the time, except for the family pet, which sadly was found inside the structure hours later.  Toney fire appreciates the help from our neighboring departments , HEMSI, and the American Red Cross during this fire.

11.03.08 Fire Prevention at Madison Cross Roads School

Toney Volunteer Fire Department along with Madison County Communications personnel taught fire prevention and education to the students at Madison Cross Roads Elementary School.  Students were instructed about the dangers of fire, what to do in case of a fire in the home, making sure to have smoke detectors along with other valuable information.  In addition, the children were able to see a real fireman in full gear including an air pack to hopefully ease a child's fear of the way the firefighter looks and sounds.  Students were also given a tour of the fire truck.  As always our goal is to prevent fire and protect our community pro actively. 

10.29.08 Fire Prevention at Best Beginnings

Toney Volunteer Fire Department provided fire prevention education for the children at Best Beginnings Day Care at Murphy Hill Baptist Church.  Students were able see the fire truck and all of the equipment plus a real fire fighter with all of his fire fighting gear on.  The students favorite, however, was Sparky the fire dog.  We would like to thank Best Beginnings for the opportunity to visit with them again this year. 

 

10.27.08 Toney Fire Recognizes an Act of Bravery
Members of Toney VFD awarded a certificate of bravery to Joshua Ray for his actions during a kitchen fire inside his home.  A smoke detector, which was given to him by our department during fire prevention last year, alerted him and his grandmother to a fire on the stove.  Joshua was able to bring the fire under control with a fire extinguisher before he and his grandmother exited the residence.  Joshua was recognized in the Huntsville Times newspaper and will also be submitted for national recognition through his Boy Scout Troop.  Commissioner Dale Strong could not attend, but sent a letter commending Joshua for his actions as well.  The smoke detector that Joshua received from our department was provided through a grant awarded to the Madison County Commission. 

10.23.08 Vehicle Fire threatening a structure

TONEY FD was dispatched backing up Bobo and Hazel Green Fire Departments on a vehicle fire threatening a structure. Toney's E214 was the first engine on scene allowing fire fighters to extinguish the fire quickly before the structure became involved.

10.22.08 Possible Trailer Fire Bobo Section Road

TVFD was dispatched, backing up Bobo VFD, to a possible trailer fire. A vehicle pulling a single wide trailer had become stuck in the middle of the road due to it dragging down the road. While dragging the trailer, the insulation on the underside caught fire. The truck that was pulling the trailer attempted to pull it off the road causing the undersized truck to flip on its side. The fire was extinguished quickly before any significant damage occurred to the trailer and no one was injured in the truck.

10.19.08 Two car MVA Old Railroad Bed and Hwy 53

Toney was dispatched to a two car MVA with possible injuries at Hwy. 53 and Old Railroad Bed Rd. It was determined after our arrival that there were negative injuries.

10.13.08 Single Vehicle Accident Dan Crutcher Rd

Toney was dispatched to a single vehicle accident located on Dan Crutcher Road. First unit on the scene advised vehicle was over turned with negative injuries.

10.12.08 Single Vehicle Accident Pulaski Pike

Toney was dispatched to a single vehicle accident located on Pulaski Pike with negative injury. Driver advised he was reaching down for something in the floor board and lost control striking a  utility pole.

10.08.08 Single Vehicle Accident Bo Howard Road

Toney was dispatched to a single vehicle accident located on Bo Howard Road. One patient was transported to Huntsville Hospital with minor injuries. Thanks to the family at this residence for providing us the pictures of this scene.

10.01.08 Single Vehicle Accident Old RR Bed & Toney Rd

TVFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with possible entrapment. First units on the scene advised negative injury or entrapment.

09.28.08 One Person Entrapped with Fire on Toney Road

TVFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with confirmed entrapment and on fire. A citizen of the Toney community, who witnessed the accident, was able to free the patient from the vehicle saving his life. Within minutes after the vehicle wrecked, it became fully engulfed in flames. TVFD arrived on the scene quickly and put the fire out while medics treated one seriously injured patient.  HEMSI transported the patient to Huntsville Hospital.

09.26.08 Vehicle Hits Tree Leaving One Entrapped

TVFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with confirmed entrapment just before midnight.  E114, M214 & M414 arrived within minutes and the patient was extricated rapidly.  The Madison County Rescue Squad and Bobo VFD were requested to assist and responded quickly.  Medflight had been scrambled and a landing zone set-up while Toney EMT's assisted HEMSI packaging the patient, who was flown to Huntsville Hospital.  Alabama State Troopers are investigating the cause of the accident.

09.25.08 Two Vehicles Collide on Highway 53

Toney Fire responded to a two car wreck with possible injuries.  First units on scene reported one patient entrapped.  Firefighters quickly removed the driver's door and extricated the patient.  Only one person suffered injuries and was transported by HEMSI.  Thanks to Harvest VFD for their assistance as well as the Madison County Sheriff's Dept. 

09.24.08 Two Car MVA on Pulaski Pike

TVFD was dispatched to a two car vehicle accident with possible entrapment. First units on the scene advised negative entrapment with two patients having minor injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

09.24.08 Vehicle Fire at Mildred's Restaurant on Hwy 53

TVFD was dispatched to assist Bobo VFD with a fully involved vehicle fire.  The fire was under control as the first Toney units arrived.  TVFD assisted with overhaul.  The vehicle was a total loss. 

09.19.08 Single vehicle accident on Patterson Lane

Toney responded to a single vehicle MVA on Patterson Lane early in the morning.  Fog in the area may have decreased visibility.  No one was injured and the vehicle was pulled out by a local towing company.

9.12.08 Two Car MVA at Patterson Lane & Pulaski Pike
Toney Fire responded to a two car wreck with possible injuries.  Upon arrival units had two patients.  Both were transported to the hospital by HEMSI.  The cause of the accident was being investigated.

09.02.08 Two Car MVA at Patterson Lane & Pulaski Pike

Toney Fire responded to a two car wreck with possible injuries.  Upon arrival units had two patients.  Only one person was transported to the hospital.  Cause of the accident was being investigated.

08.30.08 Vehicle vs. Cow on Pulaski Pike

Toney Fire and Rescue responded to Pulaski Pike for a single vehicle accident involving a cow.  Two people were transported to the hospital.  District 4 County Shed responded to take care of the cow. 

08.16.08 One entrapped in MVA on Ready Section

Toney VFD responded to a wreck with possible entrapment.  Upon arrival units found a single vehicle with one occupant entrapped.  Firefighters removed the roof of the vehicle and extricated the patient.  HEMSI transported the patient to the hospital.  Cause of the accident is under investigation. 

08.13.08 Rollover MVA on Jeff Road

TVFD was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment.  First unit on scene reported one vehicle on its side, but no entrapment.  The vehicle reportedly rolled once ending up on its side.  Thankfully the driver was not injured.

08.10.08 Small kitchen fire on Bo Howard Road

Toney Fire received a fire alarm call with Harvest Fire responding second due.  First units reported light smoke in the residence but that the fire was out.  Grease in a cooking pan had ignited.  Damage was contained to the vent hood and adjacent cabinets.

08.03.08 One injured in wreck on McKee Rd

TVFD responded to a single car wreck with injuries.  The vehicle left the roadway striking a tree.  One patient was packaged and transported to the hospital by HEMSI.

2007 Total: 830

2007 was a TVFD record breaking year.  Every call was answered by one of our dedicated volunteers. This was the 2nd year in a row that TVFD has not missed a single call.

2008 Total: 807

2008 fell just short of last year's call total, however it was the second largest yearly call volume for the department.  Also, July set a one month call record.  Once again, for the third straight year, TVFD did not miss a call.

Pet Oxygen Mask's

TVFD is now equipped with pet oxygen masks and carry them on each engine. Thanks to Marti and Vern Dill for donating these masks. This contribution may one day save the life of a dear pet.
